Track features and work
Create and review product features, manage their stages, and follow work from connected sources.
Features is your workspace's list of what your product does. Use it to keep feature descriptions and stages in one place, see the research and work connected to each feature, and compare planned work with shipped capabilities. Work Pipeline shows individual work items from connected sources.
Find a feature
- Open Features and stay on the Features tab.
- Enter a name or description in Search features.... Use Filters to narrow by Stage (Planned, Beta, GA, or Sunset), Managed by (User or AI), or Linked work (Has linked work or No linked work).
- Select a row to open the feature. The list shows its stage, Work Items and Signals counts, who manages it, and when it was updated. On the detail page, review its description, stage, source link when available, and linked personas, signals, decisions, documents, and work items.
If you see No features match your filters, change the search text or clear a filter. To look across the whole workspace, use Search.
Create or review a feature
To add one yourself, select New Feature, enter a required Name, optionally add a Description, choose a Stage, and select Create. A new feature starts at GA unless you choose another stage.
Brief can also find features from connected information. Select Sync to refresh the work pipeline and feature list. When the list is empty, Have Brief Find Features starts the same process. A proposed feature appears as Suggested. Open it to read its description and available source, then choose Accept Feature or Reject. If shown, Chat with Brief lets you discuss it first. The suggestion's row menu also has review actions. A suggestion is not yet an accepted feature; related sections may be empty until you accept it.
Change or remove a feature
Open a feature and choose a value under Stage to change only its stage. To change its name, description, and stage together, select Edit, make your changes, and select Save. The row menu on the Features list also has Edit.
To remove a feature, choose Delete Feature at the bottom of its detail page, or Delete from its row menu, then confirm. Creating, editing, deleting, and resolving suggestions require write access. If a change fails, try again or ask your workspace administrator about your access.
Follow work in the pipeline
- Select Work Pipeline at the top of Features. This tab lists work items across the workspace, while a feature's detail page shows work linked to that feature.
- Use Search work items... to narrow loaded rows. Filters offers Stage (Research, Ideas, Considering, Planned, Building, Shipped, Cancelled, or Deprecated), Priority (Urgent, High, Normal, Low, or None), and Source. The table also shows each item's stage, priority, source, project, and date.
- Select a work item to see its full title, stage, priority when available, and links back to its sources. Use Sync on the item page to refresh it, or return to Work Pipeline.
The pipeline loads more items as you scroll. When a search or filter finds nothing in the items checked so far, select Search more if it appears. Otherwise, adjust the search or filters. Work items depend on the sources your workspace has connected.
Refresh and troubleshoot
Select Sync on Features to refresh connected work and the feature list. If Brief says a sync is queued, return or refresh later. A partial sync can still show results from sources that succeeded. For a source warning, check Settings → Integrations. If Work Pipeline says source data is unavailable, use Try again or Check sources. If nothing is connected, use Connect a Source from its empty state, then run Sync again. See Troubleshooting connections for connection help.
