Review and record decisions

Review decision suggestions and proposals, record what was decided, and inspect decision history.

Decisions keeps proposed choices separate from decisions your team has recorded. Review the context and source links before treating a suggestion as settled.

Find a decision

Open Decisions and select a row to read its details. Use Search decisions... to narrow the list, or open Filters to filter by Status or Tags. Turn on Show archived before filtering for archived decisions. A proposal can show its topic, context, assignee, tags, re-evaluation condition, and Sources when links are available. A recorded decision shows what was decided and why. Use workspace search to find a decision alongside other records; an exact ID such as D-123 also works in Search.

Select Sync to have Brief search connected sources for past decisions. When the list is empty, Have Brief Search for Past Decisions starts the same search.

Record a decision or create a proposal

In Decisions, select New Decision when available. Choose Record, enter What was decided? and Why? (both required), then select Record Decision. You can also add Tags and Re-evaluate when.

To ask for a decision, select New Decision and choose Propose. Enter the required What needs to be decided? topic. You can add Context & considerations, Who should decide?, Tags, and Re-evaluate when, then select Create Proposal.

Confirm or reject a proposal

  1. Open the proposal and check its available Sources. Edit the topic, context, assignee, tags, or Re-evaluate when if needed.
  2. Select Accept & Record Decision. In Record Decision, fill in What was decided? and Why?; both are required. You can also change tags and Re-evaluate when.
  3. Select Confirm Decision. If the proposal was assigned to someone else, the dialog tells you before you confirm.

To decline a proposal, select Reject, optionally enter a reason in Reject Proposal, then select Reject again. A recorded decision can show History with status changes, who made them, and any recorded reason. If history fails to load, refresh the page and try again.

To remove a proposal from the list, open its row menu, select Delete, and confirm in Delete Proposal. Only the proposal's creator or assignee can do this. Use Reject when you want to record a rejection and, optionally, its reason.

To remove a recorded decision from the regular list, open it and select Archive, or use Archive in its row menu. In Decisions, select Show archived to find archived decisions, then choose Restore from an archived decision's row menu to return it to the regular list. Select Hide archived to hide them again.

Review suggestions

Brief also shows unrecorded suggestions as Suggested rows in Decisions and Search. A suggestion is not a confirmed decision. You can accept or reject it from the Decisions list. Open it for the suggested wording; Chat with Brief lets you discuss it before deciding. Suggestions are read-only in this view, so use Chat to discuss changes. Select Accept & Record Decision to accept the suggestion. To discard it, select Reject and confirm in Reject suggested decision?; it then leaves the review queue.

If accepting or rejecting a proposal fails, the page reports the failure and leaves it available for you to retry.
